Sony's professional displays can open a web address as the start-up app in Pro mode. Skjermly runs right in the display's built-in web engine, with no media player, USB stick or app. Setup takes about five minutes with the remote.
A network cable is the most stable. Wi-Fi works too. Check that the date and time are correct, or the display can't open secure web pages. Turning on NTP server in Pro settings helps.
Press Home and open Pro settings. If the display is already in Pro mode, press Info (or Display), Mute, Volume up and Home on the remote to get back to the settings.
Go to Initial input source, choose Start-up app and enter https://skjermly.no/player as the address (URI). If the display has an Apps menu in Pro settings, check that web apps are enabled for Pro mode.
Turn off sleep, Auto power off and No signal power off. Turn on AC power on in Pro settings so the display starts by itself after a power cut. If you want the display off at night, use Timers in Pro settings.
Choose Start Pro mode and confirm. The display restarts and opens Skjermly by itself, also after power cuts.
The screen now shows a six-character code and a QR code. Sign in to Skjermly, go to Screens → Connect screen and enter the code, or scan the QR code with your phone.
